The Week End
It feels like yesterday I woke up and it was Monday. How did we get to Friday so fast? However it is that we got to this point so fast-- I am glad!
The week offered me a chance to get a few things off my chest. I am, of late, pretty good at biting my tongue. The older I grow the less I feel like being bothered with airing feelings...sometimes it seems like a waste of energy. Especially when it is something you know that when it ends you never have to visit again. But when someone invites the dialogue...how could I refuse! It was handled calmly and professionally. Dare I say I felt liberated? I felt liberated.
Saturday I will wake to canvass for Prop L. I am doing it because it is the right thing to do: for the students and for our jobs. Then I will bun hair for nearly the last time in marching band history as M performs the field show in her final competition. I think I will have tears in my eyes. I WILL have tears in my eyes. For some reason this year I am a band field show crier.
I look forward to the end of zero hour being a part of this family. How could anyone not want to celebrate the elimination of packing school lunch at 5am? The only thing greater than an hour more sleep in the morning would be winning the lottery. And, one has to purchase a ticket to win the lottery, so extra sleep is a grand scale win for me.
Monday...don't come looking for us till after 6am. This house is sleeping in!
*****
Best thing I heard on the playground this week: a second grade boy playing soccer (as he cupped his hands over his zone) "protect the jewels guys."
Worst thing I heard at work this week: there is still lice. UGH!
Best TV this week: Project Runway Finale Part 1. I have fallen in love with Mondo. I didn't think I would, but I did! I did not fall in love with Gretchen. I didn't think I would, and I didn't!
Worst TV: Sister Wives. I am still trying to figure out why Princess A feels compelled to TIVO a show about a man who is so full of himself that he thinks he should have four wives? Or that I entertained the idea of even watching the bizarre show for ten minutes. Twisted TV!

TGIF!!!
It has taken a long time to get from Monday to Friday. I can't explain it, there isn't really a reason. Just one of those unexplained slow moving weeks.
I am going to spend the weekend away from hallways lined with plastic trash bags suffocating lice (the itch of my scalp is a physiological thing, I promise) with my butt firmly planted on metal bleachers and eyes on the band. Of course a bit of concession stand delicacies to top it all off.
It's Friday Night Lights on the muddy grass field and Saturday competition on lush green turf.
King Ralph is out on the open road having a man motorcycle weekend. Aaaahhh. Yes. Absent makes the heart grow fonder.
I'll be back on Monday...or Sunday.

Friday Jabber
I am so glad yesterday is over. Thursday is my new hell day of the week. I spend my time after work doing nothing more than shuttling the daughters back and forth from the high school.
This day, Friday, is bring my hubby to work day. That's right people King Ralph is going to school today. Since it is Heroes Day he was officially invited for an assembly of honor and a breakfast. Being the nice, loving and supportive wife that I am, I am going in early so I can sit next to him in the sea of small people. He has on clean pants and a crisp white shirt--he's looking the part. When I woke this morning thinking about this day, thinking how the school gymnasium will be full of police, fireman and other service workers there are tons of people waking on this day dreading the grief that floods their memories.
I've got to wear "real" shoes today. Yesterday when the "big guy" was in the house and I quickly turned my flip-flopping feet to a soft shuffle. Oh brother who wants to be busted on the job for wearing contraband footwear. I went into hiding. Then I looked at my co-workers feet and joy of joys I have much company. One said to me "J. Crew flops, can't wear J.Crew in the shower." Another said "these are my faves, not in the shower I could slide and slip." Of course my ever favorite line, is my own, "these are my new black flops I don't wear new shoes in the shower." Today's dress code is red, white and blue [jeans] with real-uhg-shoes today. I guess for the Heroes it is worth it.
However, after work (after I gaze at my new very clean windows that flood my home with sunshine) I will do a quick wardrobe change into my favorite spirit wear t-shirt and my yellow polka-dot chucks, cruise to the high school to dress the Color Guard. Because looking like a Flyer in the stands is important under the Friday Night Lights.

TGIF!
By the time I am able to collapse on the couch this week--my feet ache. So I am all, TGIF! I rise before the rooster crows, work all day, run the girls all evening while adding in visits to my mother-in-law till I finally am able to flop in the bed around 1030pm. I need the alarm clock to stop waking me--for at least one day.
I traded a Wednesday night at the Cards game to see and hear this:

I've just been whipped and as much as I love both the marching band playing the National Anthem and a Cards winning game; King Ralph had to be the guy to support our child. And, D needed someone home while she acclimates to life in high school and the homework load. She too couldn't have handled a ball game. M was up till 1230am doing homeowrk after the game. UHG!
Since I am dragging on this TGIF I am plotting and planning my rebel edge. A new dress code was implemented this year for work-- no shoes you can wear in the shower and jeans only on Fridays. When I took D to get new jeans at Old Navy last night I picked up a pair of black flip flips. I love me some flops! I am wearing them with my jeans today. I WOULD NEVER WEAR NEW FLIP FLOPS IN THE SHOWER. This my defense speech if the principal says something. Or,we were given till October to rectify our wardrobes. (I was never a blue jean girl but I was always: flip flops with skirt girl.)
Tonight, after work, after the hospital, we are going to our favorite pizza joint to eat, drink, relax and watch the Cards--win, well hoping.
